Jako is an austrian company that has been leading in mechanical pressure and temperature measurement technology for over 75 years, while having over 30 companies as customers worldwide. I got an internship at their facility in Vienna, to assist them with their new website. The base functionality of the website was created in coorperation with „apptec Gmbh“, an austrian company creating websites for customers. I created a lot of the graphics, layouts and chose the new color palette.

My main task was to make new photos of every product JAKO has to offer, since the old ones were outdated. Things like their logo, fonts used and other things on their products were not up to date. The old photos all had a slight green cast to them and were a little bit underexposed, so I knew what to keep in mind. I set up a photobox with a tripod and wrote an instruction for the company, so that they know how to set up their photobox and camera to add new product photos with identical lighting and color. I used the app "Notion" to create a list for all hundreds of products that I needed to update and then edited them in Lightroom. I created my own preset and used it on all photos, since the lighting was always the same. I cut them out manually in Photoshop and created png and web friendly versions.
While my main task was to update every product photo, I was also helping out apptec Gmbh with ideas on how to make the new JAKO website recognizable and intuitive to navigate through. A big part of creating a website is also to have good Search Engine Optimization (SEO), the process of optimizing websites so that they rank well on search engines. That includes having a fast website, good usage of keywords and much more. I was tasked to implement as much as possible in my time that I was working on this project. I compressed images, wrote alt-texts, SEO optimized titles for subpages and added keywords to all sites.
I also helped out with having a good structure thoughout the whole site, which is essential for a good experience.
